Artist Bio
Joan Croft-Jones, a watercolor artist and sculptor, was born in
Greensburg, PA, and resided there until moving to the Wilmington
area in 2002 with her husband David. She is a graduate of Indiana
State Teachers College, now Indiana University of Pennsylvania,
with a B.S. in art education.
“As boaters we had looked all along the eastern coast for a place
near water and with warmer winters. Living between the Cape Fear
and the Atlantic is proving to be a continuing inspiration to my
artistic efforts.
“The arts have been a part of my life for over 50 years. Teaching
art turned into selling fine art supplies and custom picture framing
the last 25 years before retirement.”
Joan’s collections of sea glass, driftwood, corks, tin can lids and
other found objects have become art. Recycling has always
been part of her creative endeavors.
In Pennsylvania, Joan was president of the Greensburg Art Club
and the Pittsburgh Watercolor Society, and is a signature member of
the Pennsylvania Watercolor Society. Her paintings are in numerous
private, corporate and institutional collections.
She is a member of the Wilmington Art Association and a frequent
exhibitor.
